In 2009, I started my journey into media and interned for Kool 105.5 Mo and Sally Morning Show. As an intern, I was in charge of screening phone calls, updating the station’s website with articles, conducting phone contests, editing promos, and doing behind the scenes projects such as “Pet of the Week” interviews and videos. All content was uploaded to the intern Facebook page for viewers to see. I also participated in on-site events such as, Fourth on Flagler and The Mo and Sally Dueling Christmas Toy Drive.
In 2012, I interned at WPTV News Channel 5 as an intern web producer. I was in charge of finding stories, writing stories, creating photo galleries and updating the station’s Facebook page. While I was there, I also edited video clips for the website and YouTube. I was there during the 2012 Presidential elections until 3 a.m. posting new photos to the website and writing updates. I also learned about SEO and social media.
In 2013, I was hired as an intern social media reporter for Smart for Life Cookie Diet company, headquartered in Boca Raton. There she updated the company’s Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and blog, as well as made videos for the Smart for Life YouTube. I hosted the Smart for Life News segments as well as edited the videos on iMovie.
From June 2013-June 2014, I worked for WPTV NewsChannel 5 and WFLX FOX 29 as a studio camera operator, teleprompter operator, and weekend floor director. I was in charge of camera composition, giving time cues, communicating talent needs to control room and studio setup. Along with my typical job, I had the opportunity to run WPTV’s Facebook and Twitter pages during the 2014 Winter Olympics and Academy Awards. I was promoted to Assignment Editor/Associate Producer in June 2014 before transitioning into advertising.
Currently, I work at an advertising agency as a Social Media Coordinator. One a daily basis I’m working on anything from writing content, to answering social media comments, to understanding analytics or working on clients’ reputation management. In the picture to the right, I received my first phone call from Google, which was pretty awesome! Being able to permanently keep my thinking cap on truly jives with what and how I’ve always wanted to be. I’m always up for learning more, doing more and being more.
