In 2009, Markella Haynes interned for Kool 105.5 Mo and Sally Morning Show. As an intern, she was in charge of screening phone calls, updating the station’s website with articles, conducting phone contests, editing promos, and doing behind the scenes projects such as Pet of the Week interviews and videos. All content was uploaded to the intern Facebook page for viewers to see. Markella also participated in the Fourth on Flagler 4th of July event and Mo and Sally’s Dueling Christmas Toy Drive.

In 2012, Markella had an internship at WPTV News Channel 5 as an intern web producer. She was in charge of finding stories, writing stories, creating photo galleries and updating the station’s Facebook page. While she was there, Markella also edited video clips for the website and YouTube. She was there during the 2012 Presidential elections until 3 a.m. posting new photos to the website and writing updates. Markella learned about S.E.O and social media.

In 2013, Markella was hired as an intern social media reporter for Smart for Life Cookie Diet company headquartered in Boca Raton, Fla. There she updated the company’s Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and blog, as well as made videos¬†for the Smart for Life YouTube. Markella hosted the Smart for Life News segments as well as edited the videos on iMovie. During my time at Smart for Life, she also helped manage a giveaway promotion.

From June 2013-June 2014, Markella worked for WPTV News Channel 5 and WFLX FOX 29 as a studio camera operator, teleprompter operator, and weekend floor director. She is in charge of camera composition, giving time cues, communicating talent needs to control room and studio¬†setup. Along with her typical job, she had the opportunity to run WPTV’s Facebook and Twitter pages during the 2014 Winter Olympics and Academy Awards. She was promoted to Assignment Editor/Associate Producer in June 2014 before transitioning into advertising.
